Things are tough out there in the craft beer world and in the business world in general, but some businesses are finding ways to charge forward regardless of the headwinds. If nothing else, craft breweries are resilient, flexible, and creative little beasts. Craft beer, in many ways, seems well-suited to navigate the stormy waters. Case in point, Bellevue Brewing’s recent news.
Bellevue Brewing Company just announced the opening of Side Hustle Local in Bothell. Some folks may not know about the relationship between Bellevue Brewing and Side Hustle Local. The brewery operates its flagship brewery and restaurant in Bellevue’s Spring District, but there are also a couple of taprooms that feature Bellevue’s beers nearly exclusively: Side Hustle Local, which recently introduced its second location, Side Hustle Bothell. The Side Hustle locations are not brewery taprooms, per se, but do offer a broad array of Bellevue Brewing beers almost exclusively.
Side Hustle Bothell is located on the street level of one of the new apartment buildings in downtown Bothell, just a couple blocks south of McMenamins Anderson School. Side Hustle in Kirkland has been open for some time now. Kirkland is family-friendly, but the new location in Bothell is an adults-only space. While they offer a broad array of Bellevue Brewing beers, they also offer wine and cider along with European cuisine. They pour from 24 taps, featuring mostly Bellevue Brewing’s beers, but they also dedicate a few tap handles to guest breweries and non-beer beverages, including N/A options.
Every brewery, like every business, is unique. There’s no cookie-cutter. Bellevue Brewing’s situation is its own, and its relationship with Side Hustle is built on some particular circumstances. What Bellevue Brewing does, with cooperation from Side Hustle, to move forward may or may not provide a roadmap for any other business.
