When Slippery Pig Brewing opened, the world looked a lot different. Fifteen years ago, the brewery operated on a rural property outside of Poulsbo. It was sort of like a modern Kitsap version of a farmhouse brewery. Eventually, it moved into town, operating in downtown Poulsbo. More recently, Slippery Pig was looking to open a second location in Bremerton. That plan proved much more difficult than they’d expected. Yesterday on social media Slippery Pig Brewing announced that it is closing.
“It is with heavy hearts that we make this announcement tonight: The Pig has closed its doors for the last time. It was a good 15-year ride. We want to thank our amazing staff who loved this place more than humanly possible. We are so happy to have been able to raise so many funds for different charities. We are happy our legacy will live on in community events we created, like the Great Poulsbo Beer Run and the Vikingfest Strongman.”
“We got our start when Shawna was selling produce and had rhubarb left over after the market. Dave threw that in an IPA, and it became our famous Rhubarb IPA. With all the trials, and rising costs since covid, plus trying to open the second location in Bremerton and tough governmental delays became more than we could bear. We were very much looking forward to being a part of the Charleston community!”
“It is with full hearts we would like to offer our thanks one last time to everyone that helped, supported, and believed in everything we were able to achieve and create in the short 15 years you shared your business and community with us, so thank you.”
One last hurrah on Friday, January 17th – “Well, after this outpouring of love, we have decided to open Friday. One last hurrah/pay the taxes and some expenses party. We will open 4 to close (late) with Karaoke with Kyle one last time! It will be bar service like old times. Very limited staff (Dave and Shawna for sure). Come by and say hi, grab your mugs, a beer, some merch, maybe some bottles.”
