We originally posted about this new beer-focused board game a while ago, but we are happy to follow up and tell you that the game has arrived. The game’s creator and Urban Family Brewing invite you to join them at a release party for the Beers of Ballard board game on Thursday, January 23rd.

“The event is open to everyone. There will be copies of the board game available for $25, and those who backed the Kickstarter can pick up their game,” said Stefan Hock, the game’s creator. “Gameplay mimics real life as players strategize visiting breweries based on beer supply, special events, new beer releases, and, of course, necessary stops at the food truck! Each round, an event and supply card is drawn to determine beer supply and events occurring across the six breweries. Players then secretly decide which brewery they will visit each round; then, all players reveal their chosen destination simultaneously.”

Beers of Ballard is a new board game that emulates the act of brewery hopping in Ballard.

To my knowledge, there is no other place in the entire nation quite like it. Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood is home to a dozen breweries, with more on the way. All within a block or two of each other. If there’s another place that compares to Ballard, I’d love to hear about it. Now there’s a board game that celebrates Ballard Beer.

Stefan Hock, a longtime veteran of the Ballard beer scene, has now designed a board game, Beers of Ballard. Over the next couple of weeks, you have an opportunity to check it out in person as he takes the show on the road visiting some of the breweries in the game. (See schedule below.)

Beers of Ballard is a brewery-hopping board game for 3 – 4 players. Though you do not consume an actual beer as part of the gameplay, it does pair nicely with a pint or two. Here’s a quick description of the game:

“To play, you’ll choose from four beer connoisseurs, each based on a local character brought to life by local artist Sam Trevino. The game consists of twelve rounds and takes about 30 minutes to play.”

If a player hits the buzz limit, they must visit the food truck to help them sober up before continuing. “Players collect the beer at the selected brewery and must share pints between all customers if multiple players choose the same brewery. At the end of the game, the player who accumulates the most beer wins!”
