Today, February 13th, The Brewmaster’s Outpost opens in Anacortes, Washington. It’s a beer store, or bottleshop, located near the Cap Sante Marina. More than that, it is a further extension of the Brewmaster’s enterprise: The Brewmaster’s Company.
It started a decade ago, or more, when Marley Rall began creating baked goods using spent grain sourced from local breweries. Spent grain is the barley byproduct that remains at the end of the brewing process. Typically, it is raked from the mash tun and then hauled off to farms where it is fed to pigs, chickens, and other livestock, or else disposed of some other way. Spent grain is perfectly edible, but not useful to brewers, so Marley decided to create tasty human food products with the stuff, and Brewmaster’s Bakery was born. She sold her treats at farmer’s markets, Pike Place Market, beer festivals, and so on.
In 2016, Marley expanded the business and opened The Brewmaster’s Taproom in Renton. It’s a bottleshop and beer bar that serves as a community hub, hosting a variety of events. A key part of the taproom’s mission is to support local, community-focused organizations and causes, which led to the formation of The Brewmaster’s Foundation. The stated mission is to “bring our community together, to support all those in need through the love of craft beer, one pint at a time!”
Marley is at it again. The seemingly tireless philanthropist and entrepreneur is now opening another business. This one is 1.5 hours north of Renton in the town of Anacortes. The Brewmaster’s Outpost will be a marina-side beer store offering an outstanding, well-curated selection of craft beers and the best prices in town.
“You can find us starting Tuesday right at Cap Sante Marina next to Dockside Dogs and only a short walk from the dog park,” said the announcement on social media. “We’ll be happy to get you set up with some of your favorite craft beers, wine, cider and even non-alcoholic options!”
You’ll find the Brewmaster’s Outpost at the Cap Sante Marina’s food pod, a collection of small, hut-sized businesses and food trucks. Near the corner of Q Avenue and 11th Street.
