The 2025 World Beer Cup winners were announced on Thursday, May 1st. I share the list of Washington winners and Oregon winners in this story, along with other info. Washington and Oregon breweries secured nearly 50 medals this year, earning 24 medals each. And that’s not including the medals awarded for cider: Oregon cidermakers killed it this year. You can see the complete results here. (Above: Icicle Brewing celebrates a win at the 2025 World Beer Cup, a bronze medal for its Premium Pilsner.)

Oregon Dominates Cider
How Did Kendall Perform This Year?

Yay For Me! And Them

On a personal note, I suffer from impostor syndrome. I found this year’s results affirming on an individual level.

  • I regularly tell people that No-Li Brewhouse’s Wrecking Ball is a vastly underrated imperial stout. This year, it earned a gold medal.
  • Icicle Brewing’s Premium Pilsner is a regular visitor to my beer fridge and is one of my go-to beers. It earned a bronze medal in a hotly contested category.
  • When writing for Seattle Magazine some years ago, I named Seapine Brewing’s Rainbow Suspenders the best beer in the city—or something like that. It won a medal this year.
  • Though I’m not alone in thinking this, Three Ryes Men from Reuben’s Brews is probably one of the best beers I’ve ever tasted. It raises the hairs on my arm and makes me a bit verklempt. It won another medal this year.
  • I was raised in Bellevue. Two of my hometown breweries earned medals this year. Bellevue Brewing and Resonate Brewing! Representing a place I once called a barren wasteland of beerlessness. Yay for Bellevue!

2025 World Beer Cup Stats

A panel of 265 judges from 37 countries evaluated 8,375 entries from 1,761 breweries and cideries across 49 nations. The judges awarded 349 awards in 112 style categories. The judges determined that no beer earned gold medal honors in some categories. Most of the medals were awarded to breweries in the USA, but many went to breweries in other nations. Japan had an outstanding showing this year with 13 medals, including some in hotly contested categories. See the complete results here.

Most-Winning States

Understandably, California won the most medals. That state has nearly twice as many breweries as any other state, and many of those breweries are great. Oregon and Washington tied this year, so no bragging rights were awarded.

  • California 74 medals
  • Oregon 24 medals
  • Washington 24 medals
  • Colorado 21 medals

Most-Entered Categories

Once again, the IPAs received the most entries. It’s nice to see that one of the Pilsener categories and another lager category made the top five this year.

  2. Category: West Coast-Style India Pale, 253 entries
  3. Category: American-Style India Pale Ale, 208 entries
