Want to own a world-class bottleshop and beer store? 99 Bottles is for sale

Federal Way’s 99 Bottles describes itself as a world-class bottleshop, and they’ve got the Rate Beer and Beer Advocate rankings to prove it. We recently learned that the business is for sale.

Ten years ago, the term bottleshop was still a bit alien to most ears. In 2006, Tiffany and Craig opened 99 Bottles in Federal Way and introduced the concept to the community. They’ve built a great business and a great reputation, bringing good beer to Federal Way and attracting customers from beyond, but Tiffany and Craig are now ready for a change.

Back when they opened 99 Bottles, there just weren’t very many beer-focused shops and most people were unfamiliar with the concept and the term bottleshop. A lot has changed in the world of beer in the past ten years. That is a ridiculous understatement. In 2006, craft beer accounted for less than six percent of beer sales (nationwide). Today, nearly 20 percent of the beer consumed in America is craft beer and the number continues to rise faster than the industry expected. Around here, we consume a lot more craft beer than the national average.

We recently learned that the Tiffany and Craig are ready to pursue new adventures and 99 Bottles is for sale.

After much consideration and 10 years of sharing the love of craft beer, Craig and Tiffany have decided to not renew their business lease at Crossings Center in Federal Way, the current location of 99 Bottles beer store.

What does this mean?! Will 99 Bottles close? Under current ownership, yes.
