Back in November 2023, we reported that Portland, Oregon’s Ecliptic Brewing had been sold to Great Frontier Holdings, a collection of brands that includes Ninkasi Brewing, Wings and Arrow Brewing, Ashland Hard Seltzer, and others. That announcement also included news that the Ecliptic brewery and taproom in Portland would close and that Great Frontier would begin producing Ecliptic’s beers at its brewery in Eugene.
Today we report that Portland’s Von Ebert Brewing has purchased the Eliptic facility in North Portland (825 N. Cook Street). The news comes via a report on the Oregon Live website. The plan will see Von Ebert Brewing greatly increase its production volume and transform the brewery and taproom. Reportedly, the plan involves reimagining the outdoor space to include, potentially, a dog park and food carts.
Von Ebert Brewing’s other locations will remain open but will see a change in focus as far as the breweries are concerned. The smaller systems at the Pearl District brewery (10-barrel brewhouse) and the Glendoveer brewery (7-barrel brewhouse) will focus on small-batch and fruited beers, while the new and larger system on Cook Street will handle the production of Von Ebert’s familiar, award-winning beers.
At the new location, Von Ebert’s will install a 20-barrel system that it recently purchased from Pelican Brewing. The plan originally called for installing it at a different location, in Beaverton, but when the Ecliptic space became available, that plan changed. The company hopes to increase production from 4,000 barrels to 20,000 barrels annually to facilitate wider distribution. You can read the full report on Oregon Live here.
