Tin Dog Brewing has been perfecting the art of small batch, fresh, local Belgian and Farmhouse style ales almost exclusively over the last 4 years. We came in 8th in the standings at the Belgianfest in 2016. The natural progression for us was to start to barrel age. Last year, we started putting our farmhouse ales in French Oak wine barrels and are ready to share the tasty results of our first and second limited release selections.

Our first Barrel Aged selection has a story to tell. At grape harvest last year, a neighbor had some extra White Concord grapes. We brewed some Saison with Nelson Sauvin hops, chosen for their white wine characteristics and added the grapes to our secondary fermentation. Finally, we chose a French Oak Chardonnay barrel and aged the beer for 9 months. The result we are calling a beer wine hybrid. It has a tart Chardonnay start with an intense oak, hop and malt finish.

Our second selection in our Melange Une, our first blended beer. We have taken three different Barrel Aged beers at different stages in their aging, the oldest having aged for a year, and highlighted the best qualities of each. This is a beer with a peach aroma and taste and a tart lemon drop finish.

We are hosting our first Barrel release event for these small batch beers on Saturday, October 21 from 1-4 PM.
