Beveridge Place Pub invites you to join them this Thursday, November 3rd to enjoy some cask-conditioned beer. It’s time for the 11th Annual IPA Cask-O-Rama. Twenty firkins will be lined up on the bar. Also, they’ll make one very special announcement.
October is known as Hoptober at Beveridge Place Pub. Seattle’s venerable beer bar spends the month of October pouring lots and lots of IPA in an effort to determine which will reign as the house IPA for the upcoming year.
Throughout October the pub pours dozens of Washington-brewed IPAs. Patrons sample beers and vote for their favorites, with the top vote-getters advancing to subsequent rounds until a final group of three is determined. Then the voters cast their final ballots and the IPA champion is crowned, with the official announcement made at IPA Cask-O-Rama. This year the finalists included Georgetown Brewing’s Bodhizafa IPA, Reuben’s Brews’ Crikey IPA, and Counterbalance Brewing’s eponymous IPA.
The prize is a lucrative contract for the winning brewery, basically getting to supply Beveridge Place Pub with the “always on tap IPA” for the coming year. The pub typically pours through five kegs of the house IPA each week.
The current champion is Georgetown Brewing’s Bodhizafa IPA, which won the Hoptoberfest competition in October 2015 and then went on to win a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival in 2016, thus proving that the patrons at the Beveridge Place Pub know how to pick a winner.
Will Reuben’s or Counterbalance unseat the champion? Find out Thursday night at the Beveridge Place Pub.
