When it first opened, the taproom known as The Woods was the shared taproom for Two Beers Brewing and Seattle Cider Company. As such, and because of the liquor laws of the day, the taproom was licensed as a tavern, basically. Therefore, no kids allowed. When Two Beers Brewing folded, but Seattle Cider continued to bloom, things remained largely the same at the taproom–aptly renamed the Seattle Cider Taproom. FYI, the Seattle Cider Taproom also serves a great, rotating selection of local craft beers.

Times have changed, laws have changed, and things at the taproom have changed. For instance, earlier this year Seattle Cider transitioned its kitchen, bringing the operation fully in-house, replacing the third-party operator who ran the kitchen before. Now the company is happy to announce that the Seattle Cider Taproom is going all-ages, effective August 1st. Official announcement below.

Seattle Cider Taproom Opens Doors to All Ages Beginning August 1

SEATTLE, WA: Thursday, July 31, 2025 — On Friday, August 1, the Seattle Cider Taproom in SoDo will officially become an all-ages venue. The change allows Seattle Cider Company to welcome families and mixed-age groups while maintaining the taproom’s focus as a gathering place for those who enjoy local beer and craft cider.

The shift is part of the taproom’s continued evolution. In March 2025, Seattle Cider brought its kitchen fully in-house, replacing a third-party operator. This transition not only allowed the taproom to move from a tavern license to a restaurant license, which enables guests of all ages to visit, but also set the stage for Seattle Cider to realize its vision of becoming a true “third place” for the community.

“Our taproom has evolved so much over the years, and this is the next step,” said Felix Madrid, General Manager of Seattle Cider Company. “We want to be more than just a spot to grab a drink. We want to be a place where people come to connect, unwind, and feel at home.”

The decision to transition to an all-ages model reflects Seattle Cider’s commitment to creating a space that feels approachable, inclusive, and community-focused.

“Over the years, we’ve heard from many guests that they wanted a place where they could bring family, meet up with friends who don’t drink, or simply relax without the typical constraints of a 21+ venue,” Madrid added. “Now that we are running our own kitchen, we can make that change, and the timing feels right.”

The Seattle Cider Taproom features a rotating selection of Seattle Cider products, local craft beers, and a fantastic array of non-alcoholic options. The Kitchen at Seattle Cider Taproom is best described as gastro pub meets wine bar, with a focus on locally sourced ingredients and light, shareable bites designed to complement our ciders. With plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, TVs for catching the game, and activities for groups of all ages, the taproom offers a welcoming space for the whole community. Guests under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
