At last weekend’s 12th Annual Gig Harbor Beer Festival, event organizers introduced a new trophy to memorialize Steve and Mina Shulz. The couple owned E2W Brewing (East 2 West Brewing). In August of 2022, they were found murdered in their home in Olalla, Washington. Read our previous stories about the incident.
The Gig Harbor Beer Festival awarded the Steve and Mina Shulz Memorial Trophy to Ridgeline Brewing of Bremerton, Washington. The brewery’s Island Time Pale Ale received the most votes in the people’s choice voting. Here is the complete follow-up report from the Gig Harbor Beer Festival regarding this award, other awards, and the event in general.
Congratulations to Ridgeline Brewing for winning this year’s Gig Harbor Beer Festival’s, Steve & Mina Shulz Memorial Trophy. Ridgeline’s Island Time Pale Ale received the most votes from attendees this past Saturday at the Fest, with Wet Coast’s Mixtape For 1 Hazy IPA in second, and Acorn’s Haze Me Bro’ NEIPA and Rainy Daze’s Balloon Animals Double IPA tied for third. Congrats to all!
The 12th Annual Gig Harbor Beer Festival – a fund-raising event for Gig Harbor Kiwanis — was yet another completed sell-out.
Over 1,350 event goers, brewers, and volunteers enjoyed 45+ beers on tap, cider from Locust Cider and Discovery Cider, hard seltzer from Fizz Head Seltzer, and an incredible variety custom cocktails from Heritage Distilling Co.
LIVE! Music performances throughout the day included, Kristen Marlo and Jeff Ross, Jack Parker & The Remedy, and head-lining this year was Gig Harbor’s own My Guilty Pleasure.
The Gig Harbor Beer Festival Favorite Beer Award was renamed this year to honor our lost craft brewery compatriots Steve and Mina Shulz from East 2 West Brewing.
Thanks to all who came out to the Fest. We hope you had as much fun as we did.
