Great Notion Brewing is teaming up with Queen Anne Beer Hall. Not for a tap takeover or anything like that, but to bring The Hall Smashbox to Great Notion’s location in Ballard. Smashbox took over the kitchen and now serves its smash burgers and other offerings at the taproom. This is a nice addition to Great Notion and represents a further expansion for Queen Anne Beer Hall, which opened its second location in Kirkland at the end of 2023 (Moss Bay Hall).
Oregon-based Great Notion Brewing (GNB) is best known for its hazy IPAs and culinary-inspired beers. It is also known for its fun, direct-to-consumer business model. The taproom in Ballard is just one of the company’s locations. The Hall Smashbox has earned a reputation as one of the best smash burgers in the PNW.
“Queen Anne Beer Hall is such an iconic Seattle institution,” said Paul Reiter, CEO of Great Notion. “It’s a dream come true to be able to work with the team behind Moss Bay Hall and Queen Anne Beerhall. Our customers could not stop raving about their pretzel, Reuben, and smash burger, so we knew we had to partner with them!”
Starting immediately, at the Great Notion location in Ballard, Smashbox serves its delicious smash burgers, house-made pretzels, Ruben sandwiches, and more, alongside Great Notion’s beers. The Hall Smashbox at Great Notion Ballard will serve a smaller menu than the Queen Anne Beer Hall and Moss Bay Hall, offering dine-in, pick-up/online ordering, and delivery.
“We’ve always been huge fans of Great Notion’s hazy IPAs and fruited sours,” said The Hall Smashbox’s co-founder Justin (Juice) Andrews. “So when the opportunity arose to serve our classic beer-centric food alongside one of the most amazing Pacific NW breweries, it was a no-brainer!”
