Pike Brewing’s Women in Beer is back for 2024
For several years now, Seattle’s Women in Beer event, hosted and organized by Pike Brewing, has delighted the hearts and palates of local lovers of beer, wine, spirits, and food. Now, the tasting event is also a limited-release beer: Women in Beer, Rose Ann West Coast Amber.
The brewery will host a release event and fundraiser in March to celebrate the beer and the woman after whom it is named, Rose Ann Finkel, one of Pike Brewing’s co-founders. This year’s Women in Beer event takes place at Pike Brewing’s flagship pub at Pike Place Market on Thursday, March 21st with proceeds benefiting the Rose Ann Finkel scholarship fund. Tickets are limited and will go quickly.
The beer’s release focuses on celebrating the invaluable contributions of women to the world of craft brewing, highlighting their creativity, expertise, and passion within an industry historically dominated by men. This year’s Women in Beer event is going to be an interactive tasting experience filled with food and drinks from forward-thinking businesses that are leading the charge to accelerate diversity and equality throughout industries across the Northwest and beyond.
Proceeds from the event as well as a portion of proceeds from beer sales throughout March will once again benefit the Rose Ann Finkel Diversity in Brewing Scholarship as well as the Pink Boots Society. The scholarship supports the upcoming Brewery Certificate Program at Washington State University’s Viticulture and Enology program, set to launch in 2024.
“I am thrilled to see the recognition and celebration of women’s contributions to the craft beer world,” said Charles Finkel, who co-founded Pike Brewing along with his wife Rose Ann. “Women in Beer is not only a delicious brew but also a symbol of our commitment to honoring diversity and fostering inclusivity in our industry. This release is especially touching for me as it honors the legacy of my late wife, Rose Ann, who was not only my partner in life but also a trailblazer in the craft beer community.”
About the Beer
Pike’s Rose Ann West Coast Amber is crafted with notes of caramel and rye from the malt, as well as piney, tropical, and citrus notes from the hops. It was crafted by Pike Brewing’s Head Brewer, Leslie Shore. Furthermore, the West Coast Amber features a warm, copper glow with a medium body, a slightly dry finish, and a hop aroma that balances the depth of the grain, clocking in at 5.5% ABV and 35 IBUs.
Grains used in brewing the beer were bred by WSU’s Barley Breeding Program and farmed/harvested on the Palouse, reinforcing Pike Brewing’s commitment to supporting WSU’s Beer Brewing Program through the Rose Ann Finkel Foundation. The release will be available on draft and in cans at Pike Brewing’s locations (Pike Place Market, Ballard, and Convention Center), also at select retailers and bars across the Puget Sound area throughout March.
