Whidbey Island’s Penn Cove Brewing opened a location on the mainland last month
When Meatheads Beer Works shut down last year (story here), a lot of folks wondered who would move into the turnkey space. The location offered a ready-to-go, 10-barrel brewing system just waiting to get back to work; a large, nearly new building; a lot of space, both indoor and out; and a commercial kitchen. It sounded almost too good to be true. Someone was bound to take advantage of the opportunity and that someone is Penn Cove Brewing.
Last month, the company opened at its new location: The Penn Cove Brewing – Lake Stevens Brewery and Taproom. 8928 Vernon Rd, Lake Stevens, WA 98258. It also started brewing on the new-to-them brewing system. This is not the brewery’s first location. It also operates locations on Whidbey Island.
The Lake Stevens taproom is spacious and includes two levels of seating – the main floor and the loft. Also, outdoor seating on a covered patio, which features some fire tables for those chilly evenings. Kids are welcome. Dogs are allowed outside.
The kitchen serves up a menu that features, among many other things, Penn Cove Mussels. The brewery’s namesake, after all, is world-famous for its mussels.
The taproom is open seven days a week, but the kitchen is currently only open Wednesday through Sunday. Keep an eye on the company’s Facebook page for exact hours and any updates.
