Outer Planet Brewing Announces It’s Found New Ownership

A colorful flight of beers at Outer Planet Brewing

On August 29th we shared news that Outer Planet Brewing, located in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood, was slated to close down. This followed the brewery’s unsuccessfully attempts to find new ownership. Outer Planet Brewing held its closing party on September 20th. Today, we share the happy news that a new owner has now been found. Better late than never. Here is the announcement from the brewery.

A new hope for Outer Planet Brewing after earlier closure

SEATTLE, SEPTEMBER 29, 2025 – After having announced earlier this month that attempts to find new ownership for Outer Planet Brewing on 12th Ave in Capitol Hill were unsuccessful and holding a closing party on September 20th, the team at the nanobrewery is excited to announce that last-minute transition plans are now underway.

On September 24, the company’s current ownership entered into an agreement to sell Outer Planet Brewing. A more specific timeline for transition is still being worked out, but the taproom is planning to reopen in limited capacity as early as Wednesday, October 1st.

Local brewer Amory Carhart inquired about potentially acquiring Capitol Hill’s smallest brewery after learning about the closure in The Stranger earlier this month. Discussions followed in the weeks after that, and both parties were able to reach an agreement just a few days after the official closing party.

Amory, a Capitol Hill resident, didn’t want the community to lose such a beloved hangout spot, so he took his passion for brewing and dedication to local business and stepped in, with a goal to preserve small batch brewed European-style beers and a cozy gathering space for locals and tourists alike. His plans for the future include ramping up events and activities with board game nights, movie nights, and intimate classes on the science behind your favorite beer. But don’t worry! Trivia, bingo, and members nights will remain. Come by, grab a pint, meet the new owner, and continue to support a local Capitol Hill institution.
