The Seattle brewery will close permanently on September 20

In February, Outer Planet Brewing celebrated its 10th anniversary. For most small businesses, a decade is considered a good run. Most don’t last that long. But for a brewery, ten years just doesn’t seem like enough time. Today we announce that Seattle’s Outer Planet Brewing is closing its Capitol Hill brewery and taproom effective September 20, 2025. “After over 10 years on 12th Avenue in Capitol Hill, Outer Planet Brewing will be closing its doors for good on September 20th,” said an announcement from the company. “Attempts to find new ownership since the brewery’s 10th anniversary in February have been unsuccessful, and the end of the month will mark the final chapter for Outer Planet.”

Located a block from Cal Anderson Park, in a densely populated part of the city, Outer Planet Brewing was always popular with the hyper-local beer audience. Instead of brewing up nothing but predictable, commonplace beers, this small-batch brewery was never afraid to delve into more interesting stuff like fruited sour and Belgian-style beers.

“The owners, staff, family and friends of the brewery extend their gratitude to the entire community for its continued support over the past decade of brewing and sharing unique, small batch beers with neighbors and visitors alike.”

“Outer Planet is holding a number of events between now and their last day, including one last trivia night on September 10th and a final closing party on September 20th.” Keep an eye on Outer Planet’s social media feed to learn more about the upcoming events.
