Old Stove Brewing celebrates 10 years of growth and expansion

On April 18th, Old Stove Brewing celebrates its 10-year anniversary at all three of its Seattle locations

From the very start, big things were brewing. When Old Stove Brewing opened its original location on First Avenue near Pike Place Market a decade ago, no one could have guessed what was coming. Small in stature, big in ambition — that modest spot, now long closed, was just the beginning.

From the jump, Old Stove Brewing had its head in the game — locked in on Pike Place Market’s plans for the MarketFront Expansion long before most Seattleites knew it was happening. They wanted in, and they moved fast. The project wasn’t just about growing the Market’s footprint; it was part of a sweeping reimagination of the city’s entire waterfront. Old Stove seized a premium spot for its brewery and taproom — and the payoff is hard to argue with: breathtaking, expansive views of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier, the Olympic Mountains, and beyond.

Old Stove Brewing opened its second location, the stunning brewery and taproom at the Pike Place MarketFront building, in June of 2017. In 2022, the brewery expanded again, opening its Ship Canal location along Nickerson Street in Seattle’s North Queen Anne neighborhood. And then, expanding once more, the company opened the Old Stove Gardens location in Ballard in 2023.

Location, location, location… and beer, of course

Old Stove Brewing is among Seattle’s most underrated breweries, perhaps better known for its locations than its beers. Not only does it make excellent mainline beers — like its eponymously named Pilsner and its flagship Two Pronged Crown IPA — but Old Stove also excels at more creative offerings, such as its Sonoran Sunset Prickly Pear Gose and its Castaway Barrel-Aged Barleywine. The quality starts with the people: over the years, Old Stove has attracted some of the best brewing talent in the city — names with well-earned reputations that ring loud and clear across the Seattle beer landscape.

So, raise a glass to Old Stove Brewing as it commemorates its first decade. The announcement said, “Join us on April 18 at any Old Stove location for a day of live music, the special release of our 10th Anniversary Kölsch, and a few celebratory surprises and giveaways throughout the day! Come raise a glass with us to toast to a decade of great beer and even better community.”
