It’s been a heck of a year for Lucky Envelope. The brewery opened last spring in Ballard, won a medal at the 2015 Great American Beer Festival (an impressive feat, even for a seasoned brewery), and were named one of America’s best new breweries by Beer Advocate magazine.
To celebrate these and other accomplishments, Lucky Envelope Brewing is hosting a 1st anniversary celebration at the brewery in Ballard on Saturday, May 7th. Among the activities, they will raffle-off a rare opportunity for a home brewer to brew one of his/her recipes on the big system. Here is the press release about the anniversary straight from Lucky Envelope Brewing.
Lucky Envelope Brewing Celebrates 1st Anniversary
Seattle, WA (April 26, 2016) – Lucky Envelope Brewing will celebrate its one‐year anniversary on Saturday, May 7th with exclusive beers and prizes, including the chance to guest‐brew with the Lucky Envelope family.
Lucky Envelope will raffle on May 7th the chance for a homebrewer to brew his or her recipe on a large scale – and then showcase the result at a local beer‐release party slated for fall 2016.
In addition, the first 100 customers at the Saturday celebration to purchase a pint of the Lucky Envelope Anniversary Nelson IPA will receive a 20‐oz. pour in a take‐home, commemorative glass.
“Our one‐year anniversary is really a great opportunity for us to raise a pint to our fans, so we’re excited to showcase some cool prizes and beers,” said co‐founder and Brewmaster Barry Chan.
Chief among those beers is the Nelson IPA, brewed with coveted Nelson Sauvin hops native to New Zealand. The hop varietal lends a complex, fruity profile – much like the Sauvignon Blanc grape, to which it garners part of its name – making the Nelson IPA perfect for warmer weather. At 6% ABV and 58 IBU, the “hop‐forward but not bitter” Nelson IPA will be sold for a limited time starting on May 7th at Lucky Envelope’s NW 50th St. location, Chan said.
Also slated for pours that day will be a trio of Lucky Envelope Imperial Porters barrel‐aged in distinctive barrels from Seattle’s Westland Distillery. Lucky Envelope will also unveil a small batch of barrel‐aged Brettanomyces, the cult‐favorite yeast with its characteristic dry, funky aroma.
Since opening its Ballard tasting room in May 2015, Lucky Envelope Brewing has garnered numerous accolades, including medaling at the prestigious 2015 Great American Beer Festival® (GABF) competition and being named in Beer Advocate Magazine’s “Class of 2015 – 33 of the Best New Breweries”.
The one‐year anniversary festivities are set to kickoff at noon on May 7th, with Yumbit Food Truck slated to serve Taiwanese bento boxes. In addition to the guest‐brewing raffle described above, Lucky Envelope will also draw tickets throughout the day for apparel and glassware.
Great beer! I believe they totally deserve the award with their great taste and great look. Will have to attend the birthday festivities.
