Spokane’s vibrant beer scene is often overlooked by people living on the west side of the mountains, which really is a shame. The city and surrounding area has grown into a legitimate beer tourism destination in recent years, but perhaps the best way to experience the local beer culture is at the Inland Northwest Craft Beer Festival, produced each year in September by the Washington Beer Commission.
The two-day event takes place on September 21 and 22 at Avista Stadium in Spokane and features 40 breweries, many of which are from the eastern region of the state. I’m talking about breweries that rarely, or never, distribute beer west of the Cascades. Friday is for grownups only, but kids are welcome on Saturday.
I will soon publish a story about a downtown Spokane brewery crawl, just to wet your whistle, but in the meantime, here’s some of the basic info about the Inland Northwest Craft Beer Festival. We will have the full list of breweries and beers in the coming weeks.
The Inland Northwest Craft Beer Festival will welcome 40 craft breweries pouring more than 150 types of beer. To commemorate America’s other favorite pastime, the event will be held at Avista Stadium and features live music, great food and baseball-themed fun.
