Farm Team Cold Pale Ale, summer 2022, from Reuben’s Brews

Reuben’s Brews announces the release of the latest beer in the Farm Team series

Farm Team is a seasonal beer series from Reuben’s Brews that offers an uncommon opportunity for consumers to learn about the source of the ingredients used in the beer. That is, this series of beers celebrates the relationship between farm and brewery. (You can see all of our posts about Farm Team beers here.)

These beers are SMASH beers. Meaning they are brewed with a single malt variety and a single hop variety. Most beers make use of multiple types of grain and hops. Not SMASH beers. The labels on the Farm Team beers clearly identify the two key ingredients, including the source from which they came.

Here’s the release announcement from Reuben’s Brews regarding the release of Farm Team Cold Pale Ale, this summer’s offering.

Farm Team Cold Pale Ale is a collaboration series between Reuben’s Brews, PCC Community Markets, and the great farmers of the Pacific Northwest. Brewed to highlight the unique terroir of our region, this beer features a single hop and a single malt to best showcase the outstanding work hop and malt growers bring to our industry. The beer style allows the hops to shine brightly on a crisp and clean base, which also highlights the unique character of Pacific Northwest malts.

For the summer release we used HBC 1019, an experimental hop that lends notes of sweet tropical fruit, juicy guava, and creamy coconut. Grown at the Haas Yakima Golding Farm in Toppenish, Washington, it’s a variety we fell for almost the moment we first rubbed a sample in the field.

Meanwhile, the Lyon Pilsner malt in Farm Team Summer 2022 Edition comes from barley grown in Eastern Washington by Joseph’s Grainery, a fifth-generation, family-owned business.
