One of the best things about Seattle’s Ballard Brewery District is the diversity of styles. Whatever kind of mood you’re in, there’s a brewery taproom waiting for you: from fruited sours to rustic saisons, from hazy IPA to sparkling pilsners, it is waiting for you in Ballard. One of those breweries, Fair Isle Brewing, celebrates its fifth anniversary at its taproom in Ballard, with a little something special planned each day. We share that info below.

Fair Isle Brewing is what I call a brewers brewery. While some of the other Ballard breweries might see bigger crowds lined up for IPAs and pilsners, Fair Isle attracts crowds that appreciate its saison-focussed approach. Those crowds often include brewers; it seems every time I visit the taproom, I run into someone who brews at another brewery. Saison is not all they do, and they do everything well.

Here’s what Fair Isle Brewing shared about the anniversary celebration on social media: “Whoop! Whoop! We turned 5! Come celebrate with us this week as we share special beers on tap, beer releases, music and free birthday cupcakes Wednesday through Saturday!”

  • Monday – 27th – @tacos.extranjeros – Tepache beer!
  • Tuesday – 28th – @tacos.extranjeros – Tacos Tuesday $3 tacos!
  • Wednesday – 29th  – Anniversary Beer Release & Free Birthday Cupcakes
  • Friday 31st – Fair Isle Friday Fish Fry & live music with @katedinsmoremusic starting at 6pm
  • Saturday 1st – Mussels & Frites special & the Knitting Circle Brewers’ Lounge (12-4pm).
  • Sunday 2nd – Brunch with @tacos.extranjeros from 11am-5pm. Along with house Micheladas and Beermosas!
Two bottles of beer from Fair Isle Brewing and one glass of beer.

While you’re there, I suggest that you enjoy Alicel, which the brewery recently released. It’s aptly described as “A saison brewed with a mountain of Hallertauer Mittelfrüh in the kettle and as many hops as we can squeeze in for the dry hop, as we take a classic IPA approach to hopping and apply to this timeless noble variety.”
