Last weekend I was fortunate enough to drink Pike Brewing Company’s new, delicious Session IPA at the Rock Out ALS Beer Fest in Woodinville. It’s very tasty indeed; a great beer for the summer months.
Because this is one of the official Ales for ALS beers, it’s appropriate that the name is an homage to Lou Gehrig’s jersey number. Pike Brewing’s No.4 Session IPA is built on malt from Skagit Valley Malting and the proprietary Ales for ALS hop blend. Below, the official release notice from Pike Brewing.
Seattle, WA: Pike No.4 Session IPA delivers well balanced hop flavors and aroma with a low ABV for summertime fun. This bright and floral session IPA is brewed with Skagit Valley Alba malt and the Ales for ALS proprietary hop blend. Together these ingredients create a clean and bright beer with citrus and stone fruit flavors and aroma.
The beer’s name, No. 4, commemorates Lou Gehrig’s retired jersey number. Pike Brewing Company is proud to be one of seven Washington State breweries who’ve joined Ales for ALS. Pike No.4 Session IPA is Pike Brewing Company’s summer seasonal beer release and will be available on draft and in 22 oz. dinner bottles throughout the summer.
Pike Brewing offers a tip of the hat to Loftus Ranches and Hopunion who created Ales for ALS, to Kraig Knutzen for growing our Alba barley and to Skagit Valley Malting for malting the barley.
Pike Brewing donates $1 per pint of Pike No. 4 Session IPA sold in our pub and suggests the same donation for pubs, bars and restaurants who pour this summer seasonal beer.
