When I was a kid, summer school was called “bummer school.” It meant you messed up during the regular school year and would now have to spend part of your summer catching up so you didn’t get left behind. Instead of riding bikes, you’d be reading books. Instead of catching fish, you’d be calculating math equations.
Well McMenamins Anderson School is changing that. This year they present their first-ever Summer School for beer lovers. It’s basically a beer festival with a really fun name. Festivalgoers will sample more than 50 handcrafted beers and ciders from more than 25 guest breweries across the Pacific Northwest (including seven McMenamins breweries) while roaming the halls and grounds of the former junior high school, which McMenamins converted into a destination hotel. Musical acts include Bigfoot Mojo, The Talbott Brothers, and Ragged Union. Music goes from 1:00 til 10:00. Old timey, bluegrass-type music.
