Specialty Competitions LLC is happy to announce the winners of the second Washington Beer Awards® Fresh Hop Competition. The winners were announced at an event last Thursday at The Growler Guys in Seattle (photo above). All of the beers submitted for the competition were brewed and made commercially available in the state of Washington. Of course, each of the beers utilized fresh hops. Standard caveat: we do not know which beers were submitted, just which beers won. If your favorite brewery or beer did not win, perhaps it didn’t even enter.
In all, 157 fresh hop beers, brewed by 68 Washington breweries, were submitted for judging. The entries were evaluated in a blind format using the Brewers Association Style Guidelines by panels of trained beer judges who awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze placements for each category grouping.
