Cider Summit Seattle, the city’s premier cider event, is moving down the street. The 10th annual cider festival is moving to Lake Union Park, next to the Museum of History and Industry. “Cider Summit annually exposes thousands of cider lovers and the cider curious to some of the industry’s most unique products,” explained event co-founder, Alan Shapiro. “We’re thrilled to celebrate our 10th anniversary by continuing that mission and also add a few surprises to thank our guests for helping us reach 10 years.”
This year Cider Summit Seattle features over 150 ciders, meads, and cider cocktails including regional favorites and international classics. Some of the industry’s leading cidermakers will attend the event to inform and guide guests through the tastings. Several cidermakers will also compete in the Oregon Fruit Products Fruit Cider Challenge, creating small-batch fruit ciders with Oregon Fruit Products’ puree. Festivalgoers can vote for their favorite via text, with the winners announced at the conclusion of the event.

Ah, my collection of Cider Summit volunteer t-shirts is still going, from the period before CS started “charging volunteer credit cards at the start of the shift and reversing the charges at shift end”. Still love cider!
