It’s a Dry January story and it is also a story about a local brewery expanding. It provides a bright spot in an otherwise dark and dreary time of the year for the beer industry.

Self Care is a popular line of non-alcoholic beers from Olympia, Washington’s Three Magnets Brewing Company. Before the NA craze, Self Care’s beers emerged as an alternative for those looking to experience craft beer without the buzz. Not long ago, Three Magnets Brewing announced that it is expanding into retail markets where it will provide a locally produced alternative to the widely available national NA beer brands.

I drank a Self Care NA lemon-lime gose the other day. Seriously tasty!

The expansion plan involves a new partnership with Talking Cedar Brewing of Rochester, Washington, which will allow Three Magnets to scale up production to meet rising demand. Also, the expansion includes a crowdfunding opportunity for investors. You can learn more about all if this in the press release below.

OLYMPIA, WA – 11/29/2024: Three Magnets Brewing Company, located in Downtown Olympia, WA, is excited to announce the expansion of Self Care, its acclaimed line of non-alcoholic beer, into major retail in the Pacific Northwest in 2025. As part of this expansion, Three Magnets will partner with Talking Cedar in Grand Mound, WA to produce flagship Self Care beers using their state-of-the-art brewing facility designed for efficiency and scalability.

To kick off its retail strategy, Self Care has already been approved for placements in Total Wine stores across Washington State for Dry January, and will be working with their distribution partners to pursue additional chain placements in 2025.

Additionally, the strategic brewing partnership with Talking Cedar will allow Three Magnets’ pub system to focus on continued innovation by brewing pilot batches for its pub, Direct to Consumer website sales, and distribution to specialty beer shops across the Pacific Northwest.

“Non-alcoholic beer is one of the fastest-growing segments in the adult beverage category,” said Three Magnets President Nathan Reilly. “Since 2020, Self Care has been pioneering within this space, offering over 60 unique recipes to date, and shipping Direct to Consumer across the country for the last four years. During this time, we have won multiple awards, topped taste tests, and earned national press, with one James Beard Award-winning beverage journalist recently declaring Self Care the ‘Best All-Around NA Brewery.’

“We have also developed unique go-to-market strategies by collaborating with organizations such as Sub Pop, Bumbershoot, and notable PNW musicians. With this expansion, we aim to continue innovating within the space while simultaneously making our product more accessible, helping people across the PNW form better relationships with alcohol.”
