An event this Sunday acknowledges the connection between dogs and hops
Most craft beer lovers around here know that the Yakima Valley produces a lot of hops. Fewer people know that the Yakima area also produces a lot of unwanted pups. The two are not related other than location, but one gives us a chance to benefit the other. For instance, the fresh hop beer event happening this Sunday at The Brewmaster’s Taproom.
There are identifiable reasons why so many dogs around Yakima are abandoned, neglected, and otherwise unwanted, but the reasons don’t matter to the folks at All Mutts Great and Small. The Yakima-based organization focuses on the work of rescuing, nurturing, and connecting unloved dogs with their forever homes.
For the fifth year running, The Brewmaster’s Taproom presents its Fresh Hop Auction and Raffle, a benefit for All Mutts Great and Small. Join the fun this Sunday, October 10th to help them support this great organization as you enjoy a selection of great fresh hop beers. You might just win a year’s worth of beer.
“COVID is still a thing this year, so we’re scaling back a little and skipping the flight of fresh hops,” said Marley Rall, owner of The Brewmaster’s Taproom. “You’ll still be able to enjoy the best fresh hops the season has to offer, don’t worry! Plus, we’re still bringing you the two most anticipated parts of this event: the silent auction and beer for a year raffle!”

Wait. What? Beer for a year? Yep. You could win $600 worth of beer for 2022. You can buy raffle tickets at the event or online and need not be present to win (see details below).
Other auction/raffle items include stuff for beer lovers as well as dog lovers. Get a growler a week (52 growlers) for a year. Spend a day tasting and judging dozens of beers with Sip Magazine. Spend a long weekend at a cabin in Easton, WA with a fully stocked beer fridge. There will be a lot of other fun stuff on the table, too. All of the proceeds, 100 percent, benefit All Mutts Great and Small.

“Yakima is known for their amazing climate that brings us the world’s best hops, but they’re also known for the massive amount of wild and dumped dogs,” says Marley. “The crew at All Mutts works tirelessly to take these pups, get them in shape, and find them forever homes. As an all-volunteer group, they are doing everything they can with their limited resources. We believe it’s our responsibility to say thank you to Yakima for what they give us, by giving back.”
You can purchase raffle tickets online for the “Beer For A Year” raffle. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20. If you win, you’ll get $50 every month in 2022 to spend at The Brewmaster’s Taproom on anything you’d like. That’s right, you could win $600 for only $5, but we suggest you probably buy more than one ticket.
