Last weekend, professional brewers and judges from as far away as Bermuda descended upon Central Oregon to judge over 1,200 entries in the 2025 Best of Craft Beer Awards competition. Below, we share some of the results. Remember, we only know who won. We do not know who did and did not submit beer. (See the list of Washington state winning beers here.)
Breweries of all sizes sent beers for evaluation in 61 categories and subcategories. Over 50 of the most qualified international judges worked for three days and five sessions. They awarded 135 gold, silver, and bronze medals to 87 brewery locations around the world.
West Coast Bias
Oregon breweries earned over 40 medals this year. There are many great breweries in Oregon, but they also enjoy a home-field advantage. It’s a lot easier to submit beer. Validating the point, Washington breweries scored 26 medals, and California breweries earned 23. No other states came close to those numbers.
Brewery of the Year
Small-, Mid-, and Large-size breweries are categorized by annual production volume.
- Athletic Brewing of Milford, CT, was named the 2025 Large-Size Brewery of the Year. It won four of the six medals awarded in the Non-Alcoholic beer categories.
- Sunriver Brewing Company of Sunriver, OR, was awarded 2025 Mid-Size Brewery of the Year. This year, it earned eight medals.
- Terranaut Beer of Bend, OR (new on the scene) was awarded 2025 Small-Size Brewery of the Year. It earned four medals this year.
Medal Winners
Below, I share the list of medal-winning breweries and beers in the eight most-contested categories. No surprise, IPA was the most-entered category. This year, four of the eight most-entered categories were lager-style beers, representing something of a shift in the industry. You can see the complete results here.
