Seafair Beer Choices

Boat races and Blue Angels. It’s a Seattle tradition. I hope everyone has some sort of a plan to get out and enjoy it. If you are going to the actual venue down at Genesee Park, you’ll find yourself in one of the beer gardens and you’ll have to endure whatever they are serving. Otherwise, I hope you’ll enjoy some nice Washington craft beer on this most Seattle-ish occasion.
I’ll be heading down to the lake today to attend a private affair and therefore will need to bring some beer, but what beer should I choose? There are a lot of considerations. I think about what I’ve been seeing in my local grocery store lately and grabbing a 12 pack of Scuttlebutt Amber seems easy enough and would certainly do the trick. That’s just about the only beer I regularly see in a 1/2 rack these days and it’s plenty good; however, perhaps I need a wider selection than my local grocer offers.
I could stop by Full Throttle and have a really wide selection. Luckily that wonderful bottle shop is between me and my destination. The weather being what it is lately, perhaps something light and refreshing would be better. That leads me to consider picking up a few “double deuces” of Trade Route Ginger Pale Ale. If I’m going to do the big bottles, then a lot of choices are open to me: Lazy Boy IPA, Snoqualmie Falls Wildcat IPA, Elysian Loser Pale Ale, and so many more.
It’s hard to decide. What a beautiful dilemma!
Now that I’m really thinking about beer, I know what I want and the craving will not be denied. The folks down at the Elliott Bay Brewery will be seeing me soon after they open this morning. Time to fill a couple growlers with the Wit Von Boorian. Decision made. What will you choose?
I hope everyone has a fun and safe Seafair weekend. I hope Washington beer is part of your plan.
