Stadium Golf Sports Bar taking over Rhein Haus Tacoma
Rhein Haus in Tacoma is closing, but the owners have something new and fun planned for the space: Stadium Golf Sports Bar. This has no impact on the Rhein Haus locations in Seattle, Leavenworth, or Denver but it does impact the neighboring business in Tacoma, Wally’s Wisconsin Tavern, which will also close. The last day for the Rhein Haus Tacoma location is Sunday, May 15th. Thereafter, the transformation begins.
Two local restaurant impresarios, James Weimann and Deming Maclise, operate a number of businesses, including the Rhein Haus locations. Weimann-Maclise Restaurants operate popular spots around Seattle like Stoneburner, Poquitos, Macleod’s, and others. Although sports bar is in the name of the new business, expect Stadium Golf Sports Bar to offer something more than the normal sports bar experience.
Along with an indoor gaming experience, the plan includes bringing Poquitos to Tacoma. The south end of the building will be the home of the third Poquitos location–Poquitos Capitol Hill, Poquitos Bothell, and now Poquitos Tacoma.
Here’s the announcement from the company:
After 5 years of being part of the amazing Stadium District community, Rhein Haus Tacoma is sad to share that we will have our last day of service this weekend on Sunday, May 15th. But don’t worry, we have something new and fresh planned for our re-opening later this summer!
We are excited to announce the opening of two new bar and restaurants within the current Rhein Haus Tacoma space, coming this summer.
Stadium Golf Sports Bar will feature six state-of-the-art TrackMan golf simulator suites for you to gather with friends, family, and coworkers to hone your golf swing along with a full menu of delicious food and drinks to enjoy while you play. The space will still offer more than a dozen TVs featuring local Seattle and Tacoma sports, plus games like Big Buck Hunter, shuffleboard, and pull tabs.
The south end of the restaurant including the covered outdoor patio will become the third location of Poquitos—our popular Mexican eatery that has been open in Capitol Hill in Seattle since 2011 and downtown Bothell since 2018. The menu features fresh salsa and guacamole, seasonal margaritas, tacos and enchiladas, coastal ceviche, and so much more.
Rhein Haus Tacoma Executive Chef Kelly Wilson will remain in his role as executive chef for the two new concepts and general manager Jeff Sparks will continue to lead the team in the front of the house.
Closing Rhein Haus Tacoma was not a decision we made lightly, and we thank you for all your support over the last 5 years. If you still need your Rhein Haus fix after our last weekend of service, please visit us at Rhein Haus in Seattle, Leavenworth, and Denver.
Customers with gift cards to Rhein Haus or Wally’s are still welcome to use them at the new restaurants when they open, or at any of our Weimann Maclise locations including any of our other Rhein Haus locations. Visit weimann-maclise.com for more information.
