Reuben’s Brews is not being shy about their opinion on this one. They are not being coy or evasive. They support Black Lives Matter. Too often, talking about social or political issues can be risky business. This time, none of that matters. Right is right. I am not suggesting that any other breweries are doing anything wrong, I’m just pointing out what this one brewery is doing right.
Here’s the statement from the brewery itself.
BLACK LIVES MATTER
EXTENDED THANK YOU THURSDAY THIS WEEK (Thursday, June 4)
Black Lives Matter. We stand with everyone who is rising to fight oppression and racism.
One of our four core values at Reuben’s Brews, which our team aims to live by every day, is the concept of Success as One Team. No single one of us is capable of success – or failure – on our own. We must own it together – we can only succeed when we work together as one team. We do this by looking out for each other, and communicating directly, openly, and honestly.
We do this by listening.
In that spirit, this week’s Thank You Thursday partner is Black Lives Matter Seattle. Tune in Thursday on Instagram Live to listen to the message they have to share. And to support their crucial mission, this Thursday through Sunday we will be donating $1 for every 6-pack, 4-pack, crowler or growler, or pair of 22oz bottles of beer sold from our Taproom to Black Lives Matter Seattle.
We will also be giving away 10 copies of Ijeoma Oluo’s book So You Want to Talk About Race. Everyone who purchases beer or donates to BLM (no purchase required) this Thursday to Sunday. We will randomly select 10 transactions during this period to receive a copy of this wonderful local author’s book.
Join us at The Taproom, or purchase online at reubensbrews.com/to-go, to participate and lend support to this important local organization.
