Métier Brewing and Northwest Folklife are back for a third year of Folklife Sessions at Métier Brewing Company. Every first Thursday of the month, the brewery’s Cherry Street location in Seattle hosts live music events that celebrate the talent and artistry of the Pacific Northwest. The sessions kick off tomorrow, Thursday, February 6th. The series is presented in partnership with KNKX Radio and in collaboration with the artistic director of Northwest Folklife.
“With this new year comes exciting new programming, including artist residencies running in three-month periods,” the brewery announced on social media. “Kicking things off, Demarcus Baysmore will begin his residency at MBC starting this Thursday! “Big thanks to Benjamin Hunter, Artistic Director at NW Folklife, for making this collaboration possible!”
The mission of Folklife Sessions at Métier Brewing Company is to help reclaim the dynamism of Folk as a way of life for people of all backgrounds, heritages, and traditions, not merely a stigmatized musical genre, said the announcement.
“Special thanks to KNKX Radio for partnering with [us] to help make this happen,” the brewery said. “KNKX delivers jazz, blues and NPR news on air and online from its studios in Seattle and Tacoma, Washington, and has been a longtime media sponsor and partner of the NW Folklife Festival. We’re thrilled to have them as sponsors for this monthly concert series.”
In the Seattle-Tacoma region, KNKX broadcasts at 88.5 FM. It broadcasts at other frequencies across the Northwest. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Northwest Folklife is a heritage organization that celebrates the diverse tapestry of arts, cultures, and traditions emanating from a global Pacific Northwest. The 54th Annual Northwest Folklife Festival takes place at Seattle Center on May 23 through 26, 2025.
