For the past decade, Tacoma Beer Week (TBW) took place in August. In the Northwest, that’s a busy time of year. It was easy for people to lose sight of Tacoma Beer Week and its events amidst the barrage of other summertime activities. The organizers are happy to announce that Tacoma Beer Week is moving to March.
From March 1st through 9th, a trove of no less than 30 events will celebrate the vibrant beer and brewing community across the South Sound region. Along with the events, this year, local brewers are collaborating with community partners to create four different Tacoma Beer Week beers.
Part of the Tacoma Beer Week mission is to spread an appreciation of Tacoma’s beer culture to a broader audience, inviting people from outside city limits to enjoy the festivities and the beers. To that end, TBW involves breweries from outside Tacoma, working on collaboration projects with community members and organizations.
Collaboration beer projects:
- E9 Brewing (Tacoma) is teaming up with Jan Parker Cookery, a purveyor of Phillipino cuisine that aims to share culture as much as food.
- Silver City Brewery (Bremerton) is teaming up with Communities for a Health Bay, an organization that works to protect Commencement Bay, the waters of the South Sound, and the diversity of life sustained therein.
- Logan Brewing (Burien) is teaming up with Lander Coffee and the Grit and Grain Podcast.
- Georgetown Brewing (Seattle) is teaming up with local pop-punk band Amber Pacific, with the collaboration beer getting released at the band’s upcoming album debut event.
The Washington Beer Blog will share more information as Tacoma Beer Week nears. In the meantime, here’s a press release sharing the basic info. You can also follow TBW on Facebook and Instagram @tacomabeerweek.
TACOMA BEER WEEK SHIFTS TO MARCH
Same Great Mission, New Season of Fun for Everyone
March 1 – 9, 2025
TACOMA, Wash. – Tacoma Beer Week, the highly anticipated annual celebration of South Sound’s vibrant brewing scene, will return this year from Saturday, March 1 through Sunday, March 9, 2025. Originally held in August since its inception in 2014, the event has moved to March following consultations with local breweries and venues, bringing a fresh twist to the festivities.
“We’re passionate about supporting our local breweries, businesses, and community,” said Matt McLaren, Director of Tacoma Beer Week. “Shifting the event to March allows us to bring even more attention to the local economy during a quieter season and provides easier access to travel and accommodations for those visiting from out of town.”
This year, Tacoma Beer Week will feature more than 30 events throughout the region, offering everything from beer and cider tastings to community and art focused experiences. “We want Tacoma Beer Week to be accessible to everyone,” says McLaren. “Whether you’re a beer expert or just beginning your journey, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”
Local businesses and organizations have teamed up with Washington breweries to craft four exclusive beers in celebration of the Week. Collaborations include Jan Parker Cookery with E9 Brewing, Communities for a Healthy Bay with Silver City Brewery, Lander Coffee and the Grit and Grain Podcast with Logan Brewery, and the renowned local pop-punk band Amber Pacific with Georgetown Brewing – the latter being released at Amber Pacific’s album launch at Airport Tavern March 8.
“While we originally thought 2025 might be a bit quieter after our large recent August event, it’s clear this year’s Tacoma Beer Week is shaping up to be just as vibrant as ever,” says McLaren. “We have an incredible lineup of events, including a science fair, glassblowing with Hilltop Artists, cheese and beer pairings, and so much more. Come out and support your local community, meet new friends, be kind, and love Tacoma. We’ll see you out there!”
Highlights of the Week include:
