Deschutes Base Camp is currently running around the Seattle area. It kicked off a few days ago at the Malt and Vine in Redmond and it concludes its tour at this weekend’s Fremont Oktoberfest. Tomorrow (Wednesday, September 21), Base Camp lands at the Brave Horse Tavern for Happy Hour.
Deschutes Base Camp is basically a rolling promotional party for Deschutes Brewery’s beers. The party is centered by Woody, the big wooden barrel trailer that pours Deschutes’ delicious creations. Deschutes describes Base Camp as a “Multi-venue, multi-event celebration of Mirror Pond, where any serious craft brew exploration begins.”
As I understand it, Mirror Pond is not the only thing poured at these events. Expect some big, bold beers. You might even find Woody pouring some woodsy creations about which you’ve never even heard.
At the Brave Horse, the afternoon will feature great beer, bocce ball, a DJ crankin’ out some end-of-summer jams, and an outdoor BBQ. The fun gets started at 3:00 and rolls until 7:00.
