Cool, humid weather and rain are helping firefighters contain the wildfires that are raging in Washington State and the Northwest. And now two local breweries are stepping up to help douse the fires – this time with beer involved – by raising money and goods for wildfire victims and firefighters on the front line.

Stoup Brewing in Ballard is having a fundraiser at the brewery this Thursday, September 3rd, 5 to 9 p.m., to raise money. Stoup will donate $1 per pint and event-goers can purchase $10 raffle tickets gifts to win prizes from local partners like Tom Douglas Restaurants, the Hopvine Pub, Ridge Pizza, Stoneburner, Bing’s, Ray’s Boathouse, Jak’s Steakhouse, The Dray and Marination. Kiss my Grits food truck will be out front serving food and donating $1/plate to the cause. Donations will benefit the Okanagan County Community Action Council, an organization responding to the needs of local fire survivors.

American Brewing Company in Edmonds is chipping in with a Fill the Truck Drive (part II), collecting supplies for firefighters, their support system and fire-stricken residents. Their first effort was a huge success so they are doing it again on Thursday, September 10th, collecting supplies, cash, checks and gift cards at the brewery. Donations may also be made at various Central and South Sound locations from Bellevue to Olympia, with the full list and more information at this Facebook event page.

The list of needed supplies includes non-perishable foods, tea/coffee, pet food, sleeping bags, blankets, pillow cases, lanterns and cleaning supplies. The list of needed supplies for the firefighters really drives home their situation – with requests like bootlaces, hand wipes, burn cream and visine.
