Last call for submissions to Sip Magazine’s Best of the Northwest

Attention brewers! Sip Magazine is now accepting submissions for its 11th Annual Best of the Northwest, which includes 30 beer categories. The deadline for submissions is this Friday, August 12th, with delivery due by the 16th.

A lot of people, myself included, use it as a buyer’s guide. My issue of Sip Magazine’s 2021 Best of the Northwest is still on the coffee table (beer table) and will be until the 2022 issue arrives.

After hosting the competition for 10 years, Sip Magazine decided to give the competition a refresh based on things it’s learned and feedback it’s received from producers and judges.  Here’s what’s new for 2022:

  • No more waiting months to find out the results. The Best of the Northwest for each specific beverage category will be digitally released within 30 days of the competition to our the magazine’s 40,000-plus followers and opt-in subscribers. The quick turnaround should allow for product inventory to be more readily available for Sip Magazine readers to enjoy. Additionally, the full list of winners will be featured in the annual print issue of Sip, which is released in January.
  • Judges’ Tasting Notes will be provided for each product submitted; this will give you feedback from the judging team that blindly tasted your product.

As in previous years, the judging panel will taste the beers in a blind-tasting format. The panel of judges includes beer experts: cicerones, beverage directors, beer buyers, beer writers, producers, bottleshop owners, and other beer industry professionals.

The top four beers in each category receive awards: Platinum, Double-Gold, Gold, or Silver medal. Beyond those top awards, other top performers in the larger, most-submitted categories receive Judges’ Picks designation. Learn more about the competition and the submission guidelines here.
