Well then, I guess it was 10 years ago. Just a bit over 10 years ago, actually. I met with Matt Lincecum in the space that would become the original brewery and taproom for Fremont Brewing. He showed me a diorama, like the ones that you made when you were a kid, of how he imagined the brewery looking when it was complete.
A few months later, when the brewery opened, I was surprised at the accuracy of his imagination. And then things began to roll for Fremont Brewing. It’s been a helluva ride! Today it is one of the largest breweries in the state, by production volume, and has earned a national reputation, largely because of its outstanding barrel-aging program.
This weekend, the brewery at the Center of the Universe celebrates its 10th Anniversary. As you would expect, the occasion includes the release of a very special beer. More information below. Cheers to you Fremont Brewing! You can learn more and register for the event on Facebook.
Cheers to 10 years of beer! Join Fremont Brewing in celebrating our 10 year anniversary the weekend of Sept 28th and 29th.
Time sure does fly when you’re making beer. From opening a brewery at the start of a recession (naivety at its best) to now employing over 80 rockstar folks who make and sell some of the best beer around (we think). It’s been a ride, and it wouldn’t be possible without the support of the Fremont neighborhood, the ever-changing city of Seattle and the beer-loving state of Washington.
To celebrate, we’ll be going all out and having a ton of beer specials throughout the weekend. It’s a Fremont Brewing celebration like we’ve never done before!

– Free Cake with Dark Star Buttercream Filling (YUM)

I was the first one to fill a growler at Fremont. Stopped in with an empty and Matt asked, “What do you usually pay to for a fill?” I said, “Usually about 8 bucks.” “OK,” he said, “Eight bucks, it is.” Congrats to Fremont.
