Hopped Up Brewing is closing, but don’t be sad

Most often, it is sad news when a brewery closes. This is different.

Sue and Steve Ewan, along with their two daughters, opened Hopped Up Brewing in Spokane Valley, Washington back in 2013. Visually, you couldn’t help noticing that the build was once an International House of Pancakes. The brewery’s name was a nod to Steve Ewan’s other passion: hot rods, muscle cars, and things that go vroom. Now it seems Steve will have more time to turn wrenches and burn rubber. He and Sue are retiring and closing the brewery.

They don’t want anyone to be sad. They are looking forward to the retired lifestyle. If it makes you sad because you won’t get to go there anymore, that’s fine, but leave some room to be happy for Sue and Steve.

“Thank you, Spokane for the 8 great years!” said a statement on the Hopped UP Brewing Facebook page. “We are still open until the beer runs out! We don’t want anybody to be sad, we are ready to retire and go play!”
