The upcoming 2021 Washington Legislative Session convenes next month. Since our elected officials will likely work on some sort of economic relief package, and since we do not want the concerns of Washington’s beer industry to get lost in the wash, it is probably a good idea to act primitively and reach out to your legislators now. Let them know that the brewing industry and its supporters are paying attention.

One way you can do that is by sharing your stories. Brewery owners and workers, how have the shutdowns impacted your brewery’s business? Beer fans, how have the shutdowns impacted the breweries that you love? Perhaps, like me, your business is indirectly impacted by the pandemic’s effect on the beer industry.

Below, a message from the Washington Brewers Guild, which offers a way for you to share your stories. I just did it. It only took a couple minutes and was very simple.

“The 2021 Legislative Session is set to convene January 11th and we are working diligently to lay the groundwork for economic and regulatory relief for our industry and to defend our industry from any proposals that would further economically harm small WA breweries,” said an announcement from the Guild. “We are told there is an economic recovery package in the works for early Session and we need your help ensuring WA brewers are not left behind!”

“We are partnering with the WA Hospitality Association to collect your stories to share with legislators in our efforts to secure relief. Click here to share your story with your state legislators.

We need more WA brewers’ stories!  The link will take you to options for brewery owners/operators, employees, and customers- please share far and wide to get our message out!”
