Barrel-Aged Stout From Gig Harbor Brewing

Gig Harbor Brewing & Taproom announces its first barrel-aged release — Gig Harbor Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout — available in the taproom Saturday, January 30th. This small, limited-time release picks up flavors of oak and whiskey through the extended aging process from inside a wooden whiskey barrel. These flavors add greater complexity to the already rich and robust 8% ABV beer.

Mike O’Hara, GHBC’s Head Brewer, said “our Imperial Stout already has a smooth well-balanced taste with robust dark chocolate and coffee flavors, and is perfect for the cooler weather. The barrel-aged version has the added warming characteristics of a smooth whiskey with a velvety mouthfeel.”

The malt blend is Briess 2-row, cara-pils, GW Munich 10-L, black prinz, chocolate, roasted, C-80, red x, with Northern Brewer and Golding hops.

The barrel-aged will be available on tap and for sale in 16 oz. ceramic flip-top bottles in Gig Harbor Brewing’s Tacoma, WA taproom. Due to the extremely small number of bottles available (approximately 36), there is a limit of one per customer.

GHBC’s brewery and taproom is located at 3120 S. Tacoma Way, Tacoma, WA 98409. The taproom is open 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM Wednesday & Thursday; 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM Friday & Saturday; and 12:30 PM – 5:00 PM on Sunday.
