On Saturday, May 2nd, Lucky Envelope Brewing, located in Seattle’s Ballard Brewery District, celebrates 11 years of character and identity.
Lucky Number 11
It’s the smallest two-digit prime number, and it is considered a master number in numerology. It’s the name of Millie Bobby Brown’s character in Stranger Things, and it is what “this one goes to” in Spinal Tap. Most importantly, for our purposes, Lucky Envelope Brewing is set to celebrate its 11th anniversary.
Join Lucky Envelope Brewing as it celebrates lucky number 11 on Saturday, May 2, 2026. The doors open at noon, and the fun stretches across the entire day. As with most celebrations at Lucky Envelope Brewing, the day will feature red envelope giveaways (while supplies last), giving guests the chance to win prizes. El Koreano will be serving Korean-inspired street food from 4–8 PM. And, of course, special beer releases.
“Raise a glass with us and celebrate 11 years of brewing, gathering, and sharing beer with our community. We can’t wait to celebrate with you! Eleven years of brewing, learning, growing, and following a dream with this community.”
Anniversary Beer Releases
- 11th Anniversary Hazy IPA – This one was brewed using a special, new hop variety: experimental D55, Ramosa. Introduced by Segal Ranch, Ramosa (formerly D5-055) is an intense new hop variety from the Yakima Valley described as offering vibrant aromas of ruby red grapefruit, pink pomelo, and overripe pineapple.
- Blackberry Peach Sour – Their latest fruited sour is brewed with hundreds of pounds of blackberry and peach purées, plus a hint of lemon zest. The result is a crisp and tart crusher with notes of jammy blackberry preserves and delicate peach fuzz. Available on draft and in cans.
- Honey Cinnamon Cream Stout (a fan favorite returns!) – A rich, roasty, and sweet milk stout brewed with Saigon cinnamon and locally sourced raspberry honey.

Over a Decade of Cultural Inspiration
For the past 11 years, something pretty cool has been brewing at Lucky Envelope. It’s a combination of old-world brewing tradition and cultural inspiration. In 2024, Sip Magazine dubbed Lucky Envelope Brewing’s Barry Chan a SIPfluencer, calling him a Changemaker because of the artful way he’s incorporated his cultural heritage into the brewery’s beers and identity.
The brewery’s founders, Barry Chan and Raymond Kwan, are proud to embrace and celebrate their Asian heritage with the beer they produce. At the same time, the brewery doesn’t want to get pigeonholed. People should simply recognize that Lucky Envelope brews seriously delicious, award-winning beers, some of which are inspired by the cultural roots of the brewery’s founders.
Sure, the brewery creates some of its beers using ingredients like ube, gochujang, matcha powder, and smoked lapsang souchong tea, but perhaps its most highly decorated beer is its traditional German-style Helles lager. It’s also won awards for its Mexican Lager, its Vienna Lager, and other beers that lack Asian influence.
In a nation where the landscape is dotted with over 9,000 breweries, it’s easy to think of all breweries as the same-same. Sure, they make very good beer, but what makes this brewery interesting, different, or unique? Too many breweries lack noticeable individual character. For 11 years, Lucky Envelope Brewing has proven that it is not one of those. It has character, an identity, and really good beer, too.
