Garden Path Fermentation opens its new location in Bellingham

Since 2018, Garden Path Fermentation has served and sold its beers at its brewery and taproom in Burlington, Washington. Last Saturday, the company opened its second location: The Great Northern Bottleshop and Lounge. The new Bellingham location offers visitors (21+) the opportunity to enjoy Garden Path’s unique beers on tap and also grab bottles to go. Not just its own creations, but guest taps and bottles as well.

We first introduced you to Garden Path Fermentation and the creative minds behind it back in 2018. Read that story. If you’re a fan of wild-fermented, barrel-fermented, and mixed-culture beers, you are likely a fan of Garden Path Fermentation already.

“When we opened Garden Path in April 2018, our mission was twofold,” says Garden Path co-owner Amber Watts. “We wanted to make beer, cider, wine, and mead using hyperlocal ingredients and native yeast, and we wanted to share our fermented beverages alongside those from producers who inspire us. Our brewery and taproom in Burlington features a curated selection of thoughtfully made beers and ciders as well as minimal intervention wines, including our own. We love to tell the stories behind them, and we’re eager to expand our customer base and share our enthusiasm.”

The Great Northern offers more than 30 taps of beer, cider, and natural wine, including a beer engine for cask ales and a traditional side-pull faucet for lagers. Also, a bottle selection, featuring many rare beers, traditional ciders, and a wide range of natural wines.

Ron Extract, Garden Path co-owner, explains, “Having a presence in Bellingham will help us forge a stronger relationship with the city’s craft beer, wine, cider, and culinary communities and to be even more specialized in our retail offerings, bringing in direct shipments from out-of-state breweries and wineries and in time building what we hope will be among the best curated selections of lambic, farmhouse ale, minimal intervention wine, and traditional cider that can be found anywhere in the world.”

  1. For those familiar, it’s in the location that used to be Uisce, the Irish bar in town.
