Fresh Hop Beer Report, week three, posted Sept. 29th updated thereafter

Originally posted Sept. 29th and updated regularly thereafter.

First and foremost, it’s now officially Fresh Hop Week in Yakima. The Yakima Fresh Hop Ale Festival is this Saturday and tickets are still available. Note that vax/test requirements are in place, as they are for most of the other fresh hop festivals in the region this year.

Fresh hop brew day at Stoup Brewing, via Instagram.

Beyond that, here is this week’s Fresh Hop Report, compiled from my email inbox and harvested from social media. The information below includes what the brewery actually said, prefaced by the date on which they said it. Social media is also where I shamelessly pinched the images.

Updated continually as more info rolls in until we post next week’s report. Check back, in other words. See our previous reports: September 23rd and
September 17th

Fremont Brewing

Sept. 27th – Cowiche Canyon Organic Fresh Hop Ale now scheduled for release tomorrow (Sept. 28th) – From Fremont Brewing: “Cowiche Canyon Organic Fresh Hop Ale is back on. During harvest in the Canyon, there was a good deal of wildfire smoke, and the smoke infiltrated the hops. So, we delayed this year’s Cowiche Canyon because it simply did not meet our standards…We spent the weekend fining and centrifuging Cowiche and tried the beer again today. Behold! We had removed the smoke character, and we are proud to announce the release of the 11th year of Cowiche Canyon Organic Fresh Hop Pale Ale.

Sept. 24th – NEW RELEASE: Head Full of Fresh Hops. Get your hands on this limited fresh hop hazy ipa while supplies last. Fresh hop season is nearly over, and you should reward your tastebuds with the freshest of beers with coconut, tropical, & citrus aromas. ABV: 6.8%, IBU: ACT (Aka: A Crap Ton)

It’s about perseverance, and friendship, and a journey, with a satisfying, quenching conclusion. We’re not gonna get into details here tho because it’s like 400+ pages. But spoiler alert: The ending is all about the shear brilliance of @loftusranches Simcoe. And that’s all we have to say about that.

Burke-Gilman Brewing

Sept. 30th – Today we release our last Fresh Hop beers of the year! We loved our fresh strata beers, and we were happy to see how much you loved them, too (though sad to run out so fast!)
Last year, Alpha King was a bit later in the year, so we were able to submit a fresh version of Hopotheosis. We couldn’t submit that this year, as the contest was earlier, and Citra hadn’t been harvested yet (we’re not complaining! The strata version did just fine!).
But, we redid last year’s AK winning recipe anyway, and you don’t have to share any of it with the Alpha King judges!
Fresh Hopotheosis (Citra)
9.3% ABV

FH Hazy DIPA
Citra, Mosaic, Idaho, Strata, Galaxy, steeped on 15#/bbl of fresh Citra
(yes, 9.3% – this yeast blend is a beast!

And, with the other half of our citra allocation, we did a fun New Zealand hazy with our thiol yeast blend, for tropical yumminess.
Secret Galaxy
7.7%

Aaaaand we found one more keg of FHopo Strata yesterday, and held it back so it can be tried side by side with FHopo Citra!
