The story begins with the closing of Base Camp Brewing in Portland’s Southeast neighborhood. Then the news came down in April 2021 that Ecliptic Brewing was taking over the space to open a second location called the Moon Room. Then, earlier this year, the Moon Room closed, citing staffing issues and a need to rethink think how the Moon Room operates.
Now, Ecliptic Brewing announces the location’s reopening. “The Moon Room has gone back to basics, focusing on what the company does best: beer,” said the announcement from the brewery. “With 30 tap lines, the Moon Room will serve an expanded offering of Ecliptic’s beers, including barrel-aged varieties from the company’s cellar, in addition to some cider and wine options.”
As far as food is concerned, the new Moon Room’s menu with include a variety of bar snacks, which are produced at the company’s Mothership location in North Portland. Guests can also bring their own food. Ecliptic still owns the food truck outside on their patio but says it is open to leasing it out and welcoming other food trucks on site.
Ecliptic Brewing says that it revamped the space a bit to create a warmer atmosphere with the addition of some cozy booths and a lounge area where guests can relax, work remotely, or grab a board game from their shelf. The Moon Room is also available as a private event space and currently remains an adult-only, 21+ taproom.
“I’m excited to offer a different taproom experience at our Moon Room,” says John Harris, Ecliptic Brewing’s owner/brewmaster. “The best part is that we can keep more of our beers on tap and showcase our beer archive.”
The Moon Room is open Wednesday through Sunday from 4:00 through 10:00 (11:00 on Friday/Saturday). For more information about the location, visit the company’s website. For private event questions, contact email@example.com.
