In August we shared news that Crucible Brewing in Everett, Washington planned to close at the end of 2024. That news included a caveat: Crucible was hoping to find new owners to take over the business. Mission accomplished! Erik Andresen and Johanna Watson (above) just announced that they will take over the business. The couple, now married, actually spent their first date at Crucible Brewing.

Erik says following a transition period he hopes to reopen the new version of Crucible Brewing in mid-January. In a message on Facebook, the company announced that it is currently offering investment opportunities. Those opportunities vary, but include something as simple as a founders club membership. More info below. Here is the complete announcement from Facebook.

“Hello, Crucible Community. If you have been unable to watch the video from Saturday evening’s fireside chat, let me introduce my wife and I, the new owners of Crucible Brewing Company and, eventually alongside, U-Neek Brewing Company.”

“My name is Erik Andresen and my wife’s name is Johanna Watson. I have been a homebrewer for a decade now and an advid part of the home brewing community including being in the board of the Greater Everett Brewers League for several years, along with having a business degree from UW. It has been a dream of mine to open up a brewery, along with a homebrew supplies store and brew on premises.”

“When my wife and I meet in 2020 and we actually had our first “date” at Crucible when things started reopening for the first time and used to end our runs with a walk to Crucible for to-go beers to enjoy with our dinner. She quickly joined in my hopes of opening up a brewery and here we are taking over what Dick and Shawn have created over the past nine years.”

“In addition to introducing ourselves, we would also like to make an opportunity available to anybody that is interested. Several people asked about ways to ensure the Crucible Brewery continued to be a part of the community and one of those is through an equity investment. This will help us with completing a taproom remodel (as Dick put it, a well needed refresh) and making upgrades to the production area. If you have an interest, please feel free to reach out to us via our Facebook page. You can also send an email to investors@pnwbc.com if that is easier.”

“If making an investment might be too much for you, we will also be opening up a new round of founders (maintaining existing founders) after we reopen mid to late January and an investment in that will also be helpful. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions or if you are looking for more information!”
