To celebrate Washington’s most awarded IPA, we’re giving away a Star Prize that money can’t buy: A Crikey IPA Brew Day at Reuben’s Brews!”
Original Post:
Crikey Month celebrates a Quintessential American IPA
Crikey is a great, maybe quintessential, example of American IPA. That does not simply mean it is an IPA brewed in America; in this case, the word American defines the subcategory of IPA. If all you know about the style is that it is not hazy, that’s fine. Typically, American IPAs are hoppy and bitter but not as fruity and juicy as some other IPA styles. The malt body is dry, but offers more heft to balance the hop bitterness. The color tends to lean toward a deeper golden hue than its cousin, West Coast IPA, which usually appears lighter, golden-yellow.
For more than a decade, Reuben’s Brews Crikey IPA has earned awards from national and international beer-judging competitions. It started in 2014 with a silver medal at the World Beer Championships. More recently, it was named the Grand Champion at the 2025 United States Beer Tasting Championship. Many medals and accolades marked the years between. Here’s what Reuben’s Brews planned to celebrate Crikey Month.
