Healthcare workers are in the trenches, fighting this battle on the front line. Buying them a beer is the least we can do.
Giving away free beer is a big no-no as far as the law is concerned, but Chainline Brewing is doing it legally with the help of an anonymous, very generous donor. To show gratitude and support for frontline healthcare workers at nearby EvergreenHealth Medical Center, the brewery is offering to “Beer It Forward.”
A message yesterday on Chainline Brewing’s social channels said, “Calling all EvergreenHealth Hospital employees – Beer it Forward! Times like these show us the true dedication of our local medical professionals and we wanted a way to say thanks. A local Kirkland developer has donated $1,000 to buy YOU beer!”
To get your free beer, simply stop by the brewery in Kirkland, show your EvergreenHealth badge, and pick up what you want. They are limiting it to one free item per person per visit, to share the love as much as possible.
The brewery’s regular hours of 1:00 – 7:00 will be extended by an hour today (4/14), staying open until 8:00 for those workers whose shift ends at 7:00. They’ll reevaluate and determine if they need to continue to extend hours. Keep an eye on Facebook and Instagram.
I’d love to see more breweries, especially those near medical centers, offer programs to show their support for the frontline healthcare workers who are serving as the infantry in our collective battle against the virus.
It would be fantastic for this to become a movement on the local beer scene. Not sure what that would look like, short of $1,000 donors stepping up at each brewery, but there’s no lack of creativity in this industry. The Washington Beer Blog is here to help support and promote however we can. Just let us know.
