They’re close, and you can help them get across the finish line

Way back in November of 2019 we first told you about Camp Colvos Brewing’s plans to open a second location in Tacoma. When 2020 hit, things got weird but the brewery was not deterred, just slowed down a bit as they navigated a pandemic-afflicted world. (Pictured above: the freshly made, oak sign for the Tacoma location.)

Now we learn that Vashon Island’s Camp Colvos Brewing is very close to opening in Tacoma. To get the Camp Colvos Outpost across the finish line, they’re offering you a special deal. Buy a gift card now and you’ll get a 20 percent discount. (See details below.)

In addition to its island-brewed beers, the Camp Colvos Outpost will also serve pizza made fresh with hand-stretched dough. The new location is in the historic Brewery Blocks in downtown Tacoma — a part of the city with a particularly beery past that dates back to the 1880s when it was home to one of the largest breweries in the region. Today the Brewery Blocks provide a new kind of urban space that includes craft beer. Other breweries already open in the immediate area include 7 Seas Brewing, Black Fleet Brewing, E 9 Brewing, and Sig Brewing.

Here is the recent announcement from Camp Colvos Brewing, including the info you need to order your gift card(s) at a 20 percent discount: load up with $50+ and use discount code OUTPOST.

Outpost: Almost Ready For You

We had a trial run last week at the new taproom in Tacoma. We poured beer from taps fed through an underground beer line, connected to kegs nestled in a cold walk-in, into clean glasses from our dishwasher and handed them to eager hands over a beautiful bar-top.

We made seven perfect pizzas and an enormous calzone, stretched from dough we made while training at O Sole Mio on Vashon.

Granted, there was sheet rock that had yet to be painted, strips of plywood and scraps of 2×4’s laid about, most of the bar was covered over with cardboard, light fixtures had yet to be installed, there was dust everywhere. Indeed, we are not ready for final inspections, but we are close. And the place is looking and feeling really good.

Tacoma was always the plan. We were looking for space in Tacoma before we even had our Vashon taproom. And now, after years years of planning, we are within a couple of weeks (or less) of opening our taproom “Outpost” in the Brewery Blocks in Tacoma, the coolest and best spot we could have ever hoped to find.

The Plan

The Beer

The beer will be brewed on Vashon. We continue to brew in the log cabin, though we have some bigger fermenter and brite tanks that will be installed ASAP, plans are still in the works to move the brewing facility closer to the heart of Vashon Town, in the 2AG Building (the old Kimmco space.) That said, we will have a little 1 BBL pilot brew system at Outpost as well.

The Pizza

We’ll be making a slow rise dough with the most simple and best ingredients. The pizza’s will be generous 18″ whole pies sold by the whole pie or by the slice.

Everything Else

The taproom will be all-ages and dogs welcome on the patio. There will be a concise spirits menu, tater tots, pretzels and Beecher’s Cheese Sauce. We built this place from the ground up. (Actually, from below the ground.) Hopefully we thought of everything, but more than likely, we will grow with the space as you do.

This is where you come in

We are in the final stages. As many of you know, this is when the big bills hit. We’d love your help getting across the finish line. While we’d like to just buy all of you a couple rounds of beer, we can’t quite do that legally. So… here’s the next best thing.

Load up a gift card for $50 or more, and we’ll give you 20% off. Use the discount code: OUTPOST.

Feel like going big? Load up for $1000 and we’ll only charge you $750.
