Brick West Brewing of Spokane, Washington recently announced that four of its beers earned recognition at the USA Beer Ratings event. Judging at this event is a bit different than other, more familiar events. Beers are not judged against each other to determine a “best IPA,” for intance. Instead, beers are judged with regard to a set of criteria, as explained below.
According to the event’s website, “For a beer to stand out in the USA Beer Ratings it has to perform well in each of three separate judging criteria:
“Quality. All beers will be initially tasted blind to assess their quality and how drinkable they are for consumers in their target area.
“Value for money. Beers will then be assessed to see how much value for money they are offering their consumers at that price point.

“Packaging and design. As the majority of beer is bought with our eyes, the USA Beer Ratings will recognize beers that stand out on the shelf, or on a back bar, and will assess how well suited that design or packaging is to their target consumer group and at that price point.”

Brick West Wins Big At USA Beer Ratings Competition
Spokane, WA, For Immediate Release – In the USA Beer Ratings event, which took place in San Francisco this July, Get Right Gose won a Gold, Big Heart Hefeweizen and our Pilsner won Silver and My Town American Lager won a Bronze medal in the competition. All beers were evaluated by a high-profile panel of judges, all of them with commercial buying experience, ensuring that all beers scoring highly in competition are those with broad commercial appeal.
The USA Beer Ratings competition uses a three-factor scoring system that takes into account the overall quality of the beer, its relative value compared to other beers in terms of pricing, and the overall branding and presentation of the beer. The goal of the USA Beer Ratings competition is to award and celebrate beers that beer drinkers actually want to drink!
