Taking over a new-to-them brewery and a chance to brew a beer with a Seahawks legend
The craft beer biz is not entirely bereft of good news these days, but words like ‘growth’ and ‘expansion’ are no longer as common as they were just a few years ago. That’s why I am happy to share this news from The Good Society Brewery. Last March, we shared news that Lowercase Brewing was closing but not going away. That is, the brewery was closing down, but the company’s Douglas Lager would live on. Essentially, the company formerly known as Lowercase Brewing now produces beer under the name Little Letters Lager, offering its Douglas Lager and Little Letters Italian Pilsner. The beer is made at a different location.
We did not know what would become of Lowercase Brewing’s production facility in Seattle’s South Park neighborhood. Now we do. The Good Society Brewery has taken over the space and the brewing system. This provides The Good Society with a much-needed path to meeting demand for its beers at its two taprooms and beyond. As was the case for Lowercase Brewing, the location in South Park will not offer a public-facing taproom.
Seattle’s The Good Society Brewery and Public House opened its doors just as the world shut down due to the pandemic. That first year of operation was rough, but the company did secure a gold medal for one of its beers at the 2020 Great American Beer Festival and also brought home the Small Brewery of the Year honors.
Following the shutdowns, the company’s brewery and taproom gained immediate favor with West Seattle’s beer lovers. In January 2024, The Good Society introduced its second location, opening a taproom in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood.
With thirsty crowds at its taproom locations in West Seattle and Queen Anne, the brewing system at The Good Society’s West Seattle facility is currently maxed out. The company recently took over the old Lowercase Brewing facility, which will allow it to meet demand, expand its beer lineup, and increase its distribution. No word on exactly when the first Good Society beers will roll out of South Park, but the company hopes to have something to share by the end of January.
Join the club and get a shot at brewing a beer with Seahawks legend Walter Jones
“The Admiral Club for 2025 will be closing on January 12th,” said Good Society Brewery on social media. “Don’t miss your last chance to lock in all the great benefits that come with a membership, plus this year, we have an incentive that we are pretty excited about: Everyone who purchases a membership will be entered to win a day hanging out with us and Pro Football Hall of Famer and Seahawks great Walter Jones!”
Keep an eye on The Good Society’s Instagram page for details. The company says that the details are yet to come, but all Admiral Club members will have a shot at enjoying a brew day with the NFL Hall of Fame left tackle. It sounds like the brew day will be in late spring or early summer this year. The Admiral Club is The Good Society’s membership-mug club. Purchasing a membership gets you an exclusive spot and access to a 4-pack per quarter, bigger pint pours at the taproom, and a discount on merch at The Good Society’s online store. Space in the Admiral Club is limited, so do not delay. You will find all the details here.
